When You Think You Can – You Can!
So how about we pause – just a few seconds for you to Wonder – upon your Beautiful Dream – Authentic Valid & Real.

As we’ve been discussing you ‘journeying across your page’ to Achieve what you want – for You – how come we so often don’t achieve, fully achieve, our Beautiful Dream – when we’re saying here: When You Think You Can – You Can!
So: what’s the problem? Because it seems if we ‘think’ – “I can achieve my Beautiful Dream – today – in an Authentic, Valid, Real – lasting way” then you can.

You can think your Dream – for example:
To stop being anxious, nervous, frightened…….
To stop having no, or little, self confidence.
To stop stressing and stop constantly ruminating.
To sleep well every night.
To say “NO!” and mean “NO!” – to too much food – to someone who ‘door mats’ me………
When You Think Your Beautiful Dream – You (have to) Think It Consciously!
We might think it – however, rarely do we pay the Right attention to our Unconscious Response.

I’ve ‘been there’! Before I ‘journeyed across my page’ I would get anxious about all kind of occasions, for example going to a party. Not the ‘sex drugs rock ‘n roll’ type!! Just something fun & enjoyable.
So, I’d consciously think, there’s no need to be anxious. I’d consciously think my Beautiful Dream: “I’ll have a Great time! I’ll meet someone ‘drop dead’ gorgeous & have an Amazing time. Oh Yeah!”
I’d arrive at the party & have a brutal time – and end up ‘wall flowering’ myself! Because……….
Our Unconscious Mind is ‘Thinking’ something Entirely Different!

We ignore our Unconscious Minds at our peril.
Our Unconscious Mind absolutely is the driving force behind our feelings, therefore our Behaviours. (A behaviour, for example ‘wall flowering’ our self!)

I’ve discovered – it’s taken me over 30 years to do so – the how to Communicate with our Unconscious Mind – elegantly, lastingly & easily. You too can do it.

You can Effortlessly Work with this Unconscious Communication Strategy:

Take a few minutes – that’s all you need, to write again – ‘Your Beautiful Dream’. To be honest, at this stage we can’t write it too often! So let’s take my example: “I will go to the party.. I will meet someone ‘drop dead gorgeous’. I will have an Amazing time”
Once you’ve got your words for your Beautiful Dream, speak them slowly & out loud. The deal here is – you need to listen, with the wonderful sensitivity that I know you have, to your very next thoughts.
These very next thoughts are a huge ‘Key’ to you achieving ‘Your Beautiful Dream’. Your very next thoughts are Unconscious thoughts – and they will basically be responding with: “I can’t!!

You may well ‘go the party’ (as I did) – then ‘withdraw’. You may well say “NO!” to the food or to the person who has been ‘door matting’ you. You may sleep well for a few nights.

However the “I can’t!!” will eventually ‘block’ – again.

“I can’t” and how you can differentiate and Resolve your: “I can’t!!”

rainbow over DerwentwaterWhy do we spend so much time listening to music, reading literature, hearing myths?
We become transfixed in front of the TV. We are entranced by the ever changing nonlinear dynamics of stories that cause us to wonder.

Wonder – is understood to be an experience of being in a trance like state.

In that time of ‘altered’ consciousness, we have the potential to be transformed.
So, here I have a Cautionary Teaching Tale to make you wonder.
It is also a story about “Patten Interruption” a different strategy to the two we’ve been exploring in the past couple of weeks.

I told this story last year; however, Great Stories are worth repeating!

Are you sitting comfortably – then I’ll begin:

Mike & I met in February 1992. I fell in Love – immediately.
The ‘universe’ said: ‘Here is the rainbow you’ve been waiting for….’

Mike was working out of the country for most of that year.
He said come to Africa and join me in December – we’ll ‘go bush’ for a couple of months. Not everyone’s Dream – but it certainly was mine. Wild Camping in Africa!
A Journey of a life time.
For weeks I worked around the clock – to ensure all my Clients would be comfortable and OK for me to be away. I introduced them to my Dear Colleague & friend Georgina. Everyone loves Georgina and she deftly organized to take over my Practice for a few weeks. What a gift.
I was packing ready to leave for the airport – (ludicrously impractical shoes & underwear!), when ‘out of the blue’ I started to feel anxious.
My conscious mind ‘said’ ‘you’re being irresponsible – you cannot leave your Clients.’
Within seconds I’d picked up the phone – to speak to Mike in Cape Town to say I couldn’t possibly leave my Clients. I’d nearly dialed his number – when I thought: “Whoa – hang on a minute! What is going on here – I am very responsible!”
I sat down. I ‘listened’ to my thoughts. And soon I heard the ‘voices’ of my Mother and my Grandmother saying to me when I was a little girl: “You can’t have your cake & eat it!”
“You can’t have your cake & eat it!” – It’s a belief – it’s not the truth.

Time for “Pattern Interruption”

I instantly jumped up – & loudly said “I love you Mum I love you Nan”
And even louder I stated: “This is Rubbish. What is the point in having cake and not eating it! What’s more I am going to have loads of scrumptious, adventurous ‘cakes’ and eat the lot!”

Sitting on the ‘plane I reflected that my Dear Mum & Nan – had had loads of ‘cakes’ yet they rarely took a ‘bite’ of any of them. I appreciate that their injunction was well intentioned, probably a kind of protection of me from disappointment?
And that belief, which I’d consciously not realized I’d been ‘carrying’, instantly deconstructed.
I got ‘fat’ on cakes in Africa. I still do get ‘fat’ on cakes! And you know what, I realized that until December 1992 the ‘cakes’ I’d had I’d rarely taken more than a nibble of them!
Now here’s the Cautionary Tale: Mike & I had spent only a little time together that year. He told me if I’d have cancelled I would never have seen him again.
The power to change the path of our lives is contained in the irrational dynamics of such beliefs we unconsciously carry.
Some folks have said; ‘Oh well, if you’d cancelled Africa you’d have met someone else!’ Wrong! Call me naive if you want – but there’s no one else like Mike – and no one else for me.
True Story.

see clearly Good day to you.
I’ve got a few Gorgeous stories for you. Here are just a couple to nourish your heart:
I spoke to Susie on Tuesday afternoon – we talked through the value of ‘Pattern Interruption’. Susie is a wondrously strong, intelligent & kind person. Late last year, bless her, she experienced ‘Catastrophe’ – which is ‘the last straw that breaks the camel’s back’.
That ‘last straw’ for all of us, will cause us to ‘buckle’ and Susie thoroughly withdrew from life.
She’s been ‘journeying across her page’ – and on Tuesday, we came to ‘the point’ of the blocks of imposed destructive beliefs. And we went through the ‘Fast Track Shock Strategy’ of Pattern Interruption.
On Wednesday morning – at 6.24am – I received this email:
Dear Sally a big THANK YOU once again for your precious time and for listening to me yesterday. I can see clearly now (song in there……..) Brilliant – that has made me very, very happy and I shall commence the day in happiness
With love Susie. X”
Yea Hah! That’s not just ‘fast’ Susie, that’s Rapid!
By the way – this is one of my favourite songs. So I immediately sent Susie the You Tube link: here for you too.
I’ve got this Great, Whacky Idea that there’s a whole crowd of us today singing along with Jimmy Cliff – “its gonna be a bright, bright sun shiny day. Yes I can make it now… its gonna be a bright, bright sun shiny day……….”
And the other story – a feast of a ‘sweet’ delicacy for us:
A young Mother phoned me. She said she’d been working well with ‘Pattern Interruption’, along with other strategies I’ve explored with her, that she’s been working with ‘across her page’, she’d had a real breakthrough.
However the point of this story is, she said that her baby loves it, loves watching her doing ‘Pattern Interruption’.
Her baby just laughs & laughs! How sweet is that! I’m so enjoying that – picture of baby laughing & laughing. I wonder what baby is thinking: ‘Hey Hey, Hey – way to go Mum.’

If any of your negative, self-invalidating beliefs, which you’ve been working to deconstruct, still have ‘a sting’ here is a second Fast Track strategy for you.

FAST TRACK STRATEGY TWO (As promised last week): – Confusion
Deliberately think to yourself of a negative belief from your list. (Take them one at a time).
Let’s use an example: “Oh god – I am such a failure.”
On day one, speak ‘it’, as your conscious choice, in your mind – or out loud – with loads of energy – really loudly! “Oh god – I am such a failure.”
This is your Conscious choice, so rather than ‘it’ jumping up to ‘sting you’ you are taking control over ‘it’.
Speak it 3 or 5 times on day one. Then jumble the words, write them down, this example becomes like this:
‘Eruliaf a hcus ma I dog ho’
(Would you believe spell check does not like eruliaf!!)
Next, speak out loud, several times a day for three or four days, with loads of energy & enjoyment, your jumbled words:
‘eruliaf a hcus ma I dog ho’
During the few minutes you are doing this ‘Confusion’ exercise –speak only the jumbled words:‘eruliaf a hcus ma I dog ho.’
I so hope you can laugh already. Do let me know how you get on:
By the way I will always ask your permission to tell a story as I did with Susie & the young Mother.

So why are we doing this Fast Track “Pattern Interruption” exercise?
We are achieving something absolutely spectacular. We are deliberately creating confusion in the mind-brain.
Confusion will very soon make it impossible for the mind-brain to access this particular negative belief.
What is really important in ‘journeying’ to achieve your Beautiful Dream is that you take the right steps.
In my Rapha Therapy Audio Courses I ‘walk’ alongside you ensuring the ‘journey’ is comfortable as you learn, and take the right ‘steps’ for you, to make your Beautiful Dream authentic, valid and real.
Authentic, Valid & Real. Not just a Beautiful Dream somewhere on the horizon, drifting without substance, not attainable.

OK – so: on the left side of your page you have written the problem that you want to Resolve – the Resolution of which will achieve your Beautiful Dream. We’ve been discussing the ‘how’ to take the right ‘steps’ and journey from left to right across the page to where you have written your Goal, your Beautiful Dream, Successfully Achieved.

Before we go any further in bringing solutions & resolutions to ‘blocks’ to your success, which we might encounter on the trip ‘across the page’, it’s really worth us revisiting these three powerful, focusing of attention, questions:

• What do I really want for my life?

• What would give me fulfilment and meaning?

• What will make me truly happy?

Answering these questions, as a flow of consciousness, is invaluable to helping us on the journey of transforming our lives. Our answers give our mind that clear focus on: “What am I doing this for?” What is really important in ‘journeying’ to achieve your Beautiful Dream is that you take the right steps.

In my Rapha Therapy Audio Courses I ‘walk’ alongside you ensuring the ‘journey’ is comfortable as you learn the right ‘steps’ to take to make your Beautiful Dream authentic, valid & real.

My understanding is that no matter what our Goal – no matter what our Beautiful Dream is, once we do fully Resolve the Problem, the: Not Sleeping – The Nervousness – The Anxiety – The Fears – The Anger – The Worrying & Stress…… we are then free to feel ‘at home’ with our ‘self’. So: we’re on the journey ‘across the page’ of ‘cleaning up’ (thoroughly, once & for all!) the ‘stains’ of imposed negative beliefs, that came to us from others, which have been blocking the ‘path’ to successfully achieving our Beautiful Dream.

I said last week that we would explore a strategy to ‘fast track’ changing and thoroughly deconstructing these types of negative, self invalidating beliefs.  This first ‘Fast Track Strategy’ is elegantly and safely utilising deliberate shock* . Shock to the mind-brain will “Interrupt the Patterns” of unwanted, unproductive ways of thinking/believing. These unwanted thoughts/beliefs will then deconstruct. Do read on -it’s totally safe and amusing. Therapy can be! Not a lot of people know that! “Interrupting the Patterns” is just one of the many, many Strategies that RAPHA Therapy incorporates. *(Ref: Dr. M. Erickson, Dr. E. Rossi: Effective Approaches to Mind-Body Communication)

FAST TRACK STRATEGY ONE (Strategy Two next week) A few people have said to me: ‘This is whacky! but it really works!’. Taking each negative belief (those which impede your journey) one at a time, giving each one three or four days, intentionally speak the belief out loud. Give the words a Grand Whammy, loud, loads of energy – and as you’re speaking the negative belief out loud –  and you’re as loud and energetic as you know you can be – chuck some cold water in your face – then immediately start to jump up & down – and at the same time sing out loud a really daft ridiculous song, or a favourite up-beat song, that has good feelings attached to it. And ‘What?’ you may well ask – are we achieving here? We are safely, deliberately and successfully creating a shock to the mind-brain. It’s like when we’re busy doing something, watching TV, reading – anything and someone (usually a well meaning but thoughtless jerk!) suddenly shouts loudly or chucks cold water at us! We ‘jump’ – however the important point is, when something like that happens, we forget what we were thinking. The mind-brain – forgets. And after you’ve repeated this fun exercise 3-5 times a day for three or four days – your mind-brain will not be able to find this negative belief again. And you, of course, will be delighted. The deal is, after a few days the belief will have deconstructed and should it come into your memory it will ‘sound’ ridiculous; it will have lost it’s ‘sting’ to invalidate you. Enjoy – have fun! Let me know how much you laughed.

The Aim: Is for you to forget, forever, those ridiculous repeating patterns of self invalidating negative beliefs. So  now it’s up to you to enjoy discovering your own new positive self validating beliefs. Then the noise in your mind will be replaced by harmonious sound.
